Welcome to The Final Section of The Great Summer Mosaic CAL!
I really hope you have been enjoying this crochet along! It’s just full of so many gorgeous fun designs, and I am absolutely thrilled to be part of this amazing collaboration! After I had submitted my design Erin (the host – from Juniper& Oakes) messaged me and asked if I would mind if she swapped the position of my section rom somewhere mid way, to the end of the CAL, because she felt the image of the sun setting over the sea would be a great finish to the look of the blanket, and would nicely top ‘n’ tail with the first section – the bright sunrise! Of course I thought it was a wonderful idea -absolutely perfect!
I mean what better way to relax in summer than watching the sun set over the sea and surf after a day at the beach; having a sundowner or two, a quiet stroll or even a late afternoon dip?!
For me this is the perfect way to unwind and connect with nature and put things into perspective, which I hope you will feel too, as you crochet my “Sun ‘n’ Surf” summertime mosaic blanket strip. Maybe you could even crochet it by the sea?

PATTERN NOTES
This project is worked in the overlay mosaic crochet technique whereby the colours alternate each row, with BLOsc forming the background and FLOdc forming the ‘overlay’ stitches that cover over certain BLOsc sts to create a colourwork pattern.
The result looks complex but it is made up of only a 3 simple stitches, sc, BLOsc and FLOdc, so it is easy to learn and fun to make !
Each row starts by attaching the new colour with a slst into the edge/border st in both loops the RHS, ch1, (does not count as a st throughout), sc in both loops of the same st, the pattern then follows the chart.
Each row, is fastened off in the edge/border st by working sc in both loops in the LHS , ch1, then cutting the yarn, pulling it right through and leaving a tail for weaving in later, or not, as required.
Edge/border st are denoted with ‘A’, ‘B’ for the 1st st which also indicate yarn colour for that row or ‘+’ for the last st of the row, and are worked as sc in both loops.
Each blank square represents 1 BLOsc and is worked in the colour indicated by the row edge st, except for any multi-colourwork areas (N/A in this pattern).
Squares with an ‘x’ are worked as a FLOdc into the FLO of the st 2 rows below, using in the colour denoted by that square. This can be a little confusing to start with but as long as you ‘read’ the chart by edge stitch denotation first, followed by symbol, you will find you get the hang of it quite quickly. Where written instructions are provided, it can be good to cross reference between both types of instructions especially in complicated motifs.
