Hiya Folks!
I’m so excited to introduce my new design!
The Ice Cream Dreams! Overlay Mosaic Chart
Ice Cream themed crochet notions available in my Etsy Shop
This one’s for the Nannas!
This design was inspired by some very special people and a very special tradition in our family….basically ‘The Nannas’ love of ice-cream is legendary, started by our lovely Nanna Bush, and her love of the famous Morellis in Broadstairs, and then the mantel taken up by all Bushies since.
Nanna Bush famously fell over attempting to buy her ice cream from the van by her house, smashed up her face, but managed to save her ice-cream! She sat quietly and ate it on the pavement before taking help! She said at the time “well I wasn’t going to waste it!” She even had the most enormous ’99’ shaped cake for her 99th birthday!
Uncle Chris could demolish an ice cream the size of his head, and Nanna Stosh has an almost sat-nav like ability to track the ‘Hockings’ van in North Devon, knowing days, times and places best to stop them and buy one!
So it’s now tradition that on special days of family remembrance, wherever we are in the world we share an ice-cream salute to each other and say cheers!
So 3 Cheers to ice creams! the simple pleasures that mean so much and bring people together, and cheers to you all for popping by!
Have an ice cream on me!
Much love and Happy hooking
Deb xx
Pattern Notes

This pattern is a 29 row overlay mosaic chart, with 48 stitch repeat (plus 3st = 1 buffer stitch and 1 start and end of row stitch) So if you want to make a 3 motif repeat which fits a standard single blanket width, your starting chain stitch count will be 49 x 3 = 147 plus 2 = 149 plus 1st turning chain = ch 150
2 Colour Overlay Mosaic Technique
This technique is one of the simplest mosaic crochet techniques, whereby the colours alternate each row, joining and fastening off at the end of each row, forming side ‘fringes’. The edge stitches are worked in both loops. The pattern is worked in sc and BLO for all stitches except the ‘overlay’ stitches which are worked in the FLO into the stitch 2 rows below, thus covering over the stripe of the alternative coloured row in those sections.
GUAGE – 18st X 19r = 4 inches approx using DK acrylic yarn
SIZE (of 1 repeat) 10.5 inches approx using DK acrylic yarn
